I live on the south bank of the Caloosahatchie River in Fort Myers, FL. Having lived in New York, Denver, San Francisco, and San Diego, I’m new to the south and it’s slower rhythm. But because a few miles away, this river empties into the Gulf, it has quite a current. I sit here and write, watching it flow, blue herons and dazzling white storks and herons soaring above and sailboats carried by the breeze, it is easy to “turn off your mind, relax and float downstream….. “

If you remember that lyric by the Beatles, you will probably remember the phrase “Just go with the flow, man.” We learned to “Be here now”. If religious, we called it “Letting go and letting God.”

We’ve been busy since then – raising families, having careers. Maybe we have kept some time in our schedules for meditation or yoga and have considered ourselves still on our “Path” But, we’ve gotten used to “no pain -no gain” in all areas of our life: our work and finances, our relationships and families, our health and aging.

These days, the Law of Attraction is the new “secret” key to having the life we desire. We are told that we are responsible for everything that happens in our lives, and if we do the right things we can “manifest” everything we want. Sounds like more work to me! And I’d better get it right!

I agree that no one and no thing outside myself must change in order for me to be happy. That’s the best part of Law of Attraction: it reminds us that Life is an inside job. But the real secret is that it is more like the Law of Allowing or the Law of Letting Go that brings the peace, joy and love we strive for.

I am an artist. I have always been fascinated by the Creative Process – what happens when you are so focused on something you love to do that you find yourself in that Flow. Following the call of your Muse, your Soul,  Source or Spirit. Being inspired from within. Law of Attraction says we are the creators of our lives. I believe we are. But it’s more like CO- creators. We are not in this alone.  God, or Spirit is right here within us. Being here and now.

I want to talk about this FLOW business.  I want to explore and talk to other writers, musicians, artists of all kinds - co-creators who and inspire others to “turn off your mind, relax and float downstream……”

Marne,

Your work is some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. For me, your paintings appear to be both Classical and Gothic; Dantean and Poesque at once. You could be rendering portraits for the latest publications of The Divine Comedy (i.e., of Beatrice) or of Poe's Tales of resurrected women (i.e., of Morella and Legeia).

Stephen :-)
